Which ones were the two fillies that Rowland bought? I need to go out there when he is not too busy so I can take some more pictures of his herd It sounds like the verdict is still out on Capitano, since almost all of his foals are too young for serious saddle training. It might be nice to hang on him long enough to tell what you really have as far as a stud goes. This economy really makes things difficult though.

Rowland has the oldest filly-three years old, and the other filly that he has is two years old. They are both grulla, out of Kiger Mountain Spirit by Kiger Capitano. Rowland has told me that he is starting the three year old this year. I will be starting my two year old next year. As for saddle training, I have done all of the training on Capitano myself. He has always been very willing, extremely smart, easygoing. He is almost too calm. I have ridden Cap in several Ken McNabb clinics and people are always complimenting me about him and his talent. Ken has often said that Capitano is one of the best built horses in his clinic. Ken loves to ride him and ooohh the crowd. Ken will get on him and canter him all around the arena while holding his arms out to the side, like Kevin Costner. If Capitano has any shortcomings, it is the fact that he has me for an owner/rider and not someone who is more advanced than I am. Even so, he brings me great happiness and I feel blessed to have him and his babies. Are you going to go to Kigerfest in Sacramento this year? If you take pics of Rowland's horses, would you email some to me, please?

That's what I was figuring with those two fillies of his. Now I am really curious to see how they have developed since I last saw them. I will definitely take pictures of them and then post them. This was the last time that I saw them kigers.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=724&page=1That's great to hear about Capitano and good for you! It is frustrating to have a horse that you know is way more talented than yourself, but it is way better than having a horse that you know is lacking in the talent department. I did make it to the horse expo this year and I will try to post pictures.

Thank you, Sarah. I enjoyed looking at your pics of Rowland's herd and saved all of them to my picture file. I'm surprised that they were that wooly. I thought he lived in a warmer climate.

It is warmer here, but it does freeze some in winter. It's also a little more damp in the air, so the cold tends to cling more. So much for the hot and sunny California. It really isn't that bad though. I think Calista's first winter here, she was a little more woolly, but this last winter was a pretty light coat. So, it may take their bodies a little more time to fully adjust.
