Still waiting on Ms. Lakota to foal. I had milk coming out yesterday, nothing major, it was mostly clear with some color so that's good - it's not colostrum, don't want to lose that. But nothing yet...UGH!! They will teach you patience... She's a hard one to tell when or if she's getting close....her temperment/moods have not changed any. I'm keeping an eye on her back end to see if and when her muscles relax...they seem a bit softer yesterday but hard to tell. So still watching and waiting!!!!

She's officially due April 1st for a 345 day term but she's always been early, right? Plan something that you really need to be there for, like an early morning meeting with your boss. Works every time....

Yep, she's officially due April 1st but yes she has always gone early, of course you'd know with me she wont LOL!! She went 3 weeks early with her last foal....but that's ok, as long as both are healthy and safe, I can wait! I can't wait to get Lakota back to riding - I have missed her so much!! The weather has finally gotten nice and perfect riding weather, 70 today! Thank god winter is over with!!!

Angel:
Maybe she knows a storm's brewin and she wants to keep that baby inside for a bit longer.....Hang in there...I know it's tough! The first mustang I ever bought was a "oops" cause the mustang mare was an endurance horse that the lady owned and she had a young up and coming mustang endurance colt that she was getting ready to cut...Long story short he jumped a couple fences and the mare got bred....Well, soon after that foal dropped that lady started conditioning the mare, they rode everywhere, with the foal putting in a lot of miles too...just running right by momma's side....it was quite the site!
Good luck....will keep checking back for Lakota updates!

The one night you think you're safe because she isn't acting strange or showing any signs.... that's when she'll do it! That's what Kira did, lol. I was going to move her to the new barn on Tues morning, so I didn't strip her stall Sun night. Monday morning she foaled!

Nothing new! Her teets are full and have been since last week, how long do they normally stay like that before foaling? They don't go down any. I did feel the foal kicking the other day, and boy has it grown - it's got a more powerful kick now! Could someone explain the difference they've seen in the rear end when it softens? Is it a huge change to where you will be able to notice it? Pic from the other day!! Here are her teets from Saturday

She still has indents on her nipples...those usually fill in and look like muffins. They'll also point out instead of down or in. She looks great...she has filled in nicely and looks very healthy! She does not look like her belly has "v'd" yet; as the foal gets into birthing position, the belly will look like a V and point down. This can happen a day before or hours before. Her backend is looking nice and mushy though! Glad to see she is out and moving around to get that foal into position!
I've been checking every day to see when Lakota has that foal...!! I am really looking forward to another Kiger/Lusitano cross! Come on darling - we're waiting!

Thanks Michelle. Im very pleased with the new diet I have her on. It seems to have really made a difference, she's also getting Alfalfa now which Im sure helps too. I normally don't feed Alfalfa but may keep her on it since she is used to it now. I walk her everyday to keep her exercised and get her out, altho she has a nice big lot to walk out in. Pics from last night..

Getting sleep but have the phone right by me waiting for that call! Just more excited than anything and just hope it all is ok. When it's close, I won't be sleeping any at all.
She's got that big edema pocket under her belly now!
