I have some new videos of Miss Diva. She is now 21 months old and begged me to sit on her! Of course I will NOT be training her yet. We are just continuing her education with different tasks. So two days ago, I started 5 minute sessions of playing with my yoga ball on her back and bouncing it off all parts of her body. She yawned and said "this is boring, just get on already!".
So this is what our sessions look like. Goes to show how important ground schooling is. Diva knows it all.
This is how we are going to continue, with more depth in the requests, and some passenger riding of the different gaits. For this year, if she can just grasp the essentials (start, stop, disengage, bend) and get the feel of carrying someone at all gaits, we will be really happy. We are going to focus on furthering our ground schooling to more liberty work in the field as opposed to the tound pen. Fun fun fun.

I know he looks like I ignore him, but he is such a goof! On the same youtube channel, there is a clip that says "I love Wali"...it was yesterday also.
Today with Diva, same ritual. Now she doesn't move anymore when I am on the barrel. A non issue. We experimented with the trot, only a stride or two. What I want is her to understand the request for now. Later this week I will passenger ride all gaits. After that, she will have a year off, maybe some light walks along the trail. Nothing more. Nor training stuff. Just need her to understand the balance issues. At the trot, I have not felt anything this smooth since the Dominican gaited horse I rode last year. Ok so we only trotted a few strides, but my butt never left the bareback pad. How awesome is that?
