Foaling on the South Steens has already begun. Snow was whipping around in little pockets while we were there. Off in the distance we could see sun, but it was bloody cold where we were standing! Note the lack of forage in the photo below. There is plenty of sage and a long yellow grass that the horses avoid, but not much of anything else up there. You can see little bits of green here and there, encouraged to grow by our early spring in the northwest, but a lot of it is pulled out by the horses as they pass. Lots of mule deer up there also foraging for food.

Meanwhile, back at the corrals... Couple of cute yearling fillies pose for their picture. I made a friend. Wish I had room! Wish I had a lot of room! Geldings (the last group were mares.) Adorable 14 year old which Mustang U is purchasing. Many thanks to the BLM for hauling her up to us!

Gray Mare will be traveling to Matthew Wilson for training Matt is one of the trainers who will be doing the EMM in Albany this year. Ramona had been talking to him and suggested we utilize him as a trainer and then market the mare for him. Kind of frees up some of my time here at this end...not that I won't find something to fill that time slot!
