A close friend of mine had their old leased horse pass away this year. They are ready to purchase a horse this time around for her young daughter to continue riding (she is 11yrs old) and husband as well. The daughter enjoys playdays at the local horse club and would enjoy a chance to have a horse she would feel comfortable riding along with us adults out on the trails. Her husband would not mind going on the occasional trail ride either on a nice horse. There are 6 childern in the family the horse will be loved by many and ridden by some of the younger kids as well in the future. She is more open to a younger horse with some good trail riding experience, more so then a arena horse with not much trail riding experience. That is sensible, child friendly of course and safe no horrendously bad habits. They have a budget of $2000 or less. She had considered spending more but that would mean selling her beloved driving horse to inquire the money and she would like to keep him in the family. Please let me know if you know of any horses that fit that discription in OR or WA. They need not be a Kiger Mustang either. Though she does like them and loves Wickee (she might have bought her when she was for sale had she been a whole hand shorter). She just could not talk her daughter into a mule...LOL ;D So a horse it will have to be.

A horse anywhere between 14.1 to 15.1 would be suitable. She has a little young Rocky Mountain horse as her own personal riding horse that she is working with and her standardbred driving horse. I am sure her husband might feel more comfortable on something closer to 15 hands but a well built 14.1 can carry a gentleman just fine. My friend is a short gal not quiet 5 foot, she would be spending a fair amount of time riding the horse as well.

They found a horse While searching for horses I found a lovely little 8 yr old dun gelding Mustang. While the husband won't be riding, this gelding is 13'3 hands, my friend and her kids are very excited about having a new safe trail riding horse. He is a lease with an option to buy, if all goes well, he will have a new forever home.
