PRE (inscribred andalusian), listed as dun...what do you think?

Looks like he has a dorsal stripe, but that raises the question of what you call a bay colored horse with a good solid dorsal and other dun factor markings? We have two mustangs like that; They could be called dark dun in their summer coats, but really they mostly look bay, with good dun factor markings. Also, I am not knowledgable about andalusians; is that an accepted color? Lil

He looks like a brown dun to me. The French discovered the gene that is similar to the bay gene but doesn't remove the color as much. So they look "kind of bay" but don't test positive for the bay gene. There is a PRE here in Washington, Cazar, that looks like a sooty dun. I lost track of the stallion that looked so much like Sundance it was amazing. I think his name was Cordoba. Until very recently many Andalusians were gray so there was no telling what was under that.

He is very pretty and I love his color. He looks like a mahogany dun to me. Melissa

He looks like a dun - he is gorgeous! Doesn't a bay have more of a reddish tint to them where this guy has a definite brown tint, however it is a dark brown, but still a dun.

He does look dun. In the first pic there almost seems to be something sooty at work. He is lovely.

I'd guess dun, but whatever color he is stunning. His ears have the black outline and light inside fawn color like duns have. Look at those facial features; the long swirl on the face and a wheat swirl on the chest, the broad prominent nose bone, huge defined nostrils, long mouth (?), and looks like possibly sweetheart lip. I'd like to meet him.

I'd go with dun. Without the stripe, he'd look like a sooty buckskin to me. He looks more dun that Honor does, and I've been calling him dun what with that big ol' stripe (but who knows, maybe he loses his stripe in the summer?)
