I was at a race in October,Cuneo Creek in northern Ca., where I met a fellow named Charles Cowan. He has been breeding quarter/kiger crosses for years using a kiger stallion he(?) adopted in 1999.The mare he was riding was MMR Tuff Melody Star who came in 5th place on the first day & finished 2nd place on second day(50 mile AERC races)The mare looked really good after the race .She's a pretty dun with all the trimmings about 15 hds .He has several kiger crosses he's raced over the years .Nice guy...anyone here know him?

Is his stud Kiger Bridger? If so, I've been on a few rides with him and the rider, Eric at the time.

No,I've met Bridger years ago.In fact he was the first kiger I ever saw & have ridden several races with him in the past. This was a different person altogether. He's a PNW rider & has been doing it a while in Washington & Oregon. He said he had tried to work with KMA & show his horses but they made him "jump thru too many hoops" and wouldn't recognise his 1/2 kigers so he hasn't had anything to do with kiger folks since. His horse was really nice & he seemed to be doing a good job breeding these crosses.

Chuck is a wonderful person and a great horse owner. He doesn't have any kiger studs at this time. Melody is one of my favorites! If you have time you can look up his horses on the AERC website by searching under his name. He also rides in easyboots or now the glue on renegade boot. He lives near Vancouver, Wa.
