;D I will be riding Wickee tomorrow for the first time at the trainers and yes there will be pictures I am having a friend come along with a camera. I watched Matt ride her on Monday she is green but good, as to be expected after 30 days. I have been practicing my arena riding the past couple days on my steady horses here at home. While I am trail riding about 3 days a week, it has been awhile sense I rode around in a circle minding my seat or at a canter. I think I am more nervous people are watching me, then riding a green horse. I am both anxious and excited for tomorrow.

What great pics!! Wickee looks amazing under saddle!! What a gorgeous girl!
Fo 30 days and your first ride--you did AWESOME!!! I didn't even try to canter for a long time. And mine are still a bit gawky with the canter in a small/med arenas. They do okay in a round pen, though.
Keep the pics and progress reports coming!

The two of you look great together and points to you as you are looking at where you want to go, not where you are. What a thrill for you to ride her and I am glad that you kept your cool. Did you use a one rein stop? When I taught riding that was one that some folks had to keep remembering. They tended to look down or directly in front of them rather than where they were going. We used the comparison to driving a car in that you don't watch the hood ornament but a spot in the distance.
You look happy and she looks balanced and relaxed for the most part. Not bad at all for a "first ride" Did she go home with you or is she still at Matts for more training? Did you do all her ground work yourself?

I did all the ground work myself. I needed Matt to get her going in the right direction, he is the best judge of Cowboy kids. I did not use a one rein stop when we got into a pickle. I use a differant kind of stop as I did not want to jerk her head around throw her off balance, I pull straight up with one rein and pull back with the other, to stop forward movement for a second, it was enough for her to gather thoughts. If she would have kept getting upset I would have asked her to disengage her hindquarters like a one rein stop, but it was not neccessary. I felt really relaxed riding her. I know this horse and yes she can spook but her reactions to scarey is to move away or bolt a bit, not buck. I could tell she was a little frustrated I was not Matt (what she was used to the last 30 days)and let's face it I ride differant than he does. Wickee is still with Matt for a little while longer I will continue to go and ride her there a few more times and then she will come home.

Amigo's little sister looks great.Only thing I worry about is you riding a greenie with no helmet.I know it's not "cool" in the western world but your brains will scramble as quickly as anyone's....take care.

I did take my helmet ....and I know my bad, I should have had it on. I was so excited to get on and ride that I just jumped right up there and went right to it. It was good for the photo session to be without a helmet, but you can bet from now on I will be wearing a helmet. No need to press my luck Thanks everyone for the kind words of support.
