These two pictures have been edited for size only as we were a respectful distance from the horses, but I thought you might enjoy seeing multiple Kigers in one shot rather than a zoom on one or two horses so the definition is not great especially on picture 2. The first picture is part of the herd with a stallion in the foreground who decided to check us out. The second picture is most of the herd headed up to a ridge top after the stallion decided it was time to move away a distance from us. I am coming to know which foal belongs to which mom. They were taken last weekend right off the main road, but the best footage was to be found higher up in a meadow. We sat in the tree line for about two hours just watching; grazing horses, foals playing, babies napping on the ground, and saw a total of about 35 horses. Rick doesn't want me posting video on You Tube yet due to some copyright questions he has. We are creating a web site of our own and I will be able to put sneak peaks on that site soon.

OH I am so excited..I will forward these pics to my daughter. We plan to build facilities here at the farm and she will adopt a Kiger at the next adoption. She will be happy to see so many nice looking Kiger Mustangs doing well out on the HMAs ;D

And there are some nice babies and yearlings out there now so at the next adoption there will be choices. We have seen a red dun foal, a bay colt, a grulla colt and of course dun foals. The first time we spotted the herd a few weeks ago, out of about 24 horses, seven were grulla. We see three grulla stallions when we are out there, two that seem to hang with the main herd and another one who seems to like the Lambing Grounds. One of the two stallions has a partial right ear and a freeze brand. The other one is the same one from the eastern side of the HMA last year, but he has a different mare this year; a dun with a white stripe on her face and two blaze face foals. I think there is a pregnant grulla mare with the herd. She may be just fat and have a belly, but she has no foal from this year at her side, just an older one. It is one of the grulla mares that has the bay baby. I'll find some more stills to puill from the video and post them soon.
