I don't know whether or not to call Wickee a silly girl or blame myself for being careless. Maybe it was a bit of both this afternoon.
Anyway I bring Wickee in the barn to feed grain everyday, as a matter of fact I bring in a few horses. Wickee does not get a stall to eat her grain, just gets tied against the wall next to her mom and gets grain so her lead rope is long enough so her head can reach the ground to eat her grain. Normally no big deal I do other chores while she eats and when she is done I put her back out.
On this afternoon her mom finished her grain I put her back in the pasture and proceeded to do a much needed fence line check on the elcetric fence around my pasture, while the other horses including Wickee finished eating their grain. There was a few repairs that needed my attention on the fence and I returned to the barn 20 min. later
OOPs there is Wickee rope halter around her neck leadrope wrapped around one foreleg and snorting. I had to laugh ;D..I wish I had the camera to show the perdicament she was in but she was very calm as I unhooked the lead rope and put her halter back on to lead her to the pasture. I don't know how long she was there. She was not sweaty or freaked out just standing there snorting but she had to of pulled and made some effort to get out of the sirtuation which was why the rope halter was around her neck but it was not on snug to begin with. Usually I am pretty careful about the length of rope when feeding horses tied up so this does not occur but I must have slacked off not paid to close attention ..worried about completing all chores before dark. I will attempt to do better, no one is perfect.
I am however VERY proud of my Wickee who used her brain and just hung out and waited for me to rescue her.
