Hello everyone! Angela has been so good as to give updates about our (Randy's and my) horses along the way and now that things have settled down I've joined the board and want to update you all! First, thanks to Angela for keeping all my "old" Kiger buddies posted. This ordeal seemed like a bad dream happening all over at first didn't it? And thanks to those of you who e-mailed me to check on my "kids" and thanks to Diane P for checking on us often - she has been a great friend through this ordeal. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and well wishes. If anyone is interested I have the entire story posted on our website along with pictures at www.tornadoalleykigers.com and the short of the story is that Sky (the foal) is well - YIPPEEE! And Isabella is still recovering but I'm hopeful she is going to make a full recovery. She still has a nasty abscess that we insert a catheter into daily and flush twice a day but she thinks she is well and that is all that matters. We will take care of her for as long as it takes! Yesterday she came loping in from the pasture like a wild thing - she is happy raising her baby and she feels good! She's a beautiful site considering where she was only 4 months ago. So continued prayers are appreciated because we go for a check up in two days and I just hope and pray we get another good check up which would mean the abscess is continuing to shrink. I've enjoyed coming back to the Kiger community and reading what all you folks have been doing. This year we have not done much because we've had our hands full but September and October are shaping up for some busy mustang promotions. Even though we promote ALL mustangs I still often ride Segura and in fact if you visit our website you will see that she has been used for many things over the past few years. I've been working with Marvel (the orphan from FIVE years ago - where does the time go?) and I hope to be using her in public by next spring. I hope you all have a great day and thanks again for all your notes, horse people really are the BEST!!! Kristi

Hello Kristi! I have been keeping tabs on your website looking for updates on Izzy and Sky and just found your newest update. I 'm so glad that you have posted here too! I'm relieved that things are looking so much better for Izzy and that Sky has recovered! Yahoo! It's been a long haul and you and Randy have worked so hard for this positive outcome! Hopefully now you will be able to do some fun things with your mustangs! Hows the Wild Women group doing? Nancy

Thanks to each of you for your kind notes! You all made me blurry eyed. Isabella had a check up on Wednesday, August 5th, the abscess is continuing to shrink - yeahhhh! The Dr. is still concerned that the end of the abscess dips down and it is not allowing everything to drain. He still says he is not certain we will ever get it to resolve completely but he is not giving up. The good news is that if it does not resolve as long as the abscess has a route to drain then Isabella could live like this forever. I hope that is not the case but if it comes to that point we will just deal with it. So it's a little inconvenient to take care of her daily but that is okay. :-) Typically antibiotics do not work in abscesses because they just are not effective in purulent material. But, Dr. Beard sent us home with antibiotics in hopes that it just may help some. After we flush her with saline solution the last thing we will do is flush her with antibiotics. The science and research says this step won't matter much, but my heart sure hopes that it is just what does the trick to get her well (along with everyone's prayers and well wishes). While we were there Dr. Vander Werf who took care of Isabella and Sky the first three weeks had some presents for the "kids". Oh, she is really just the best!!! I'm working on getting some new pictures of them so I can update the website you all stay tuned. Angela, I want to thank you again for your postings to the Kiger board for us. You and Jess are the best and I hope we see you soon! Nancy, I went inactive with the Wild Women of the Frontier this year. Just way too much on my plate. The practices are often alllllll day long and pretty frequent. My old mustang has come up lame and has a swollen knee that he has been suffering from for a couple of months and my back up Wild Woman horse is recovering. I have other horses but they wouldn't tolerate the commotion like these two do. At any rate, perhaps next year will be a better year. Thanks again for everyone's continued support. TGIF and have a nice weekend everyone! Kristi
