Seems like it has been an eternity waiting for this day, but it has only been three and a half years since Image's birth. Image & his dam, Reed Two years old. Image first ride. And many more rides to come. I look forward to working with and promoting another stallion. It will be interesting to see what road lies ahead for Image and me. Hopefully this will be one exciting journey. I'm bettin on it. Melissa www.kigeranne.com

It's not a bridle, it's a rope halter. Image will go into a bosal next when he is ready . Melissa

I can't wait for the stories as well - Im sure you guys will have lots of shows and stories to tell. Do you have any plans for him right now (reining, etc) or just going to wait and see how it goes? He does look like a sweet boy - they grow up fast, dont they?

Hey Angel, Let's get together for a trail ride at the Chicamauga Battle Field this fall. Maybe Image will be ready to venture out away from home by then. There are no specific plans for a chosen riding discipline for Image at this time. I need to get a real good handle on him in the next few years, then we can determine which direction toward a certain discipline to pursue. I'm always in favor promoting the versatility of the breed. Time will tell, and I have all the time in the world. I'd be interested in seeing your drill team perform sometime. Let me know when you'll be performing somewhere in North GA. Keep up the good work! Melissa

We actually have another show this saturday and was asked at the last show to perform at a cancer fund raiser up in Elberton GA in Sept, which was a big deal - the girls that coach us said for us to be asked at our 1st show was pretty amazing! But I'll keep you posted on our schedule. maybe we'll make it up to Northwest GA soon.
I do love putting Lakota in different things and showing there varsatlity as well - Im still doing the ranch sorting/penning off her as well. Its me that holds her back most of the time as I don't know what Im doing but she is very willing to do whatever I ask, also a kiger trait that I love. Kiger's are sooo versital and I love it.
Id love to meet up and ride this fall. We'll get together and plan a weekend, sounds great to me.
I notice you do a lot of the vaquero way - Im just getting into that and do love it. I think its very popular out west and just starting to pick up on the east coast now. I have found a nice "loping headstall" they call it for Lakota for the drill team. I really don't like the fact that Im in her mouth so much as she was already a high headed horse when I got her, so want to find something without a bit - any suggestions?
When are you going to start using Image as a breeding stallion? Has he been pretty easy to start so far? I can't wait to start Bella.

Image looks awesome, the two of you so relaxed on your first ride. All the work and attention before this moment certainly shows. I look forward to your adventures and tales to tell as well. Oh and of course the pictures

Angel, I enjoy Classical Stock Seat Riding in the Vaquero tradition, which includes the La Garrocha. Freestyle Exhibition Riding is my preference for what I do, so research and practicing interesting and unique riding disciplines to introduce into my riding routines is very necessary. You might want to consider finding a good riding instructor in your area for lessons with Lakota. It is best to have an educated experienced ground person to assess the situation with you and your horse. I spent many years as a riding student and could still use a good ground person at times. So far Image has probably been one of the easiest horses I have started. We seem to be very comfortable and confident with each other. There are no plans to breed him in the near future. I own only one mare who is Image's dam and have no plans to get another one.
Thanks Tiffany, You are right. The work and attention does pay off. Of course it's easier with a horse you are very fond of. Melissa
