Can someone explain what a "foundation bred" kiger is?
I always thought that freezebranded horses were "foundation" and that 1st gens would then be considered "foundation bred" == but lately I've seen the term used for horses that don't fit this.
I know in other regsistries it means something else. But am a bit clueless I guess as to what in means in ours.
Thanks!!

It means all the horse's ancestry originated in the Kiger or Riddle herds.

Aren't all kigers (with the exception of the "found" horses) then "Foundation" kigers?
Or is that exactly what this designation is meant to clarify--that a "foundation" kiger is one that has no "found" blood?
Thanks Dianne!!

This is a sticky subject for a lot of folks but in my view, foundation would be a kiger that is freezebranded from the kiger or riddle herds or the offspring can be traced back to there. Either way they have to come from freezebranded stock.
