Anyone know of any remedies to keep Cruz from chewing on Lakota's tail? Little boy is tearing it up....

Chewing manes/tails is a basic lack of silica in the diet. Usually well grown hay and good quality grains have enough, but sometimes individual animals need more (especially a teething colt!)...try adding a cup of white millet daily for the Lakota and Cruz to share with their regular grain.

Thanks Michelle. I thought he was just bored and chewing on her tail cause he is a play body and always into something. What is millet and where would I get it? Would alfalfa help?

There are products that taste bad too, I had to use them on some lead ropes that the boys were too busy chewing on to pay attention. You'd want to make sure it was safe of course.

You should be able to get white millet at a larger feed/seed store. Alfalfa will help some, depending on how deficient he is.
