I am looking for advie from people who have been involved with Kigers for a while. I am planning to register my first Kiger in the spring. I was planning to register her with the KHAR. I am noticing on the ads and web pages of many breeders that it is more common to see horses registered with the KMA. Should I stick with KHAR, go with KMA, or double register, or go somewhere else? I want to do what will benefit the most in the future with my horse and her future offspring. Thanks, Brandy

take a look at this thread kigers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=issues&action=display&thread=86 look over everything that the registries have to offer. Ask yourself what you need from the registry, for yourself and horse. Then choose the one or many registries that best suit your needs. Be aware with some registries you can not cross register...so read carefully all the bylaws and just make an educated choice. You may choose not to register with any. You can also choose one of the color registeries ABRA or IBHA My personal opinion I will leave out, as it really shouldn't matter as to what is best for you and your horse.

I have to agree with Fantasy Kiger. The politics aside, My registry of choice is the CKMR. I liked what programs they have to offer and the lady that leased me Shasta seemed really nice. I did look at some of the other registries, asked a lot of questions from the members and the BOD of each registry.
There were two registries that refused to answer my questions or did not respond to my inquiries but the remaining three did. So I decided to go with the CKMR and will also be submitting an application to a US registry so that I can have my foal recognized in both the US and Canada. That is my personal choice. I think that if you ask yourself "what do I want from a registry" and how is that registry going to best represent me and my Kiger/s then I think you will have your answer.
I would not be in any hurry to make that decision. Be sure to do your homework, ask questons and dont take anything for granted. I found that each registry has a different interpretation of what a Kiger is and offered a variety of different plusses and minuses. I think that what it all comes down to is what is right for you!
Good Luck in your decision making. Karen
