I just wanted to let you all know that thanks to your tips, I had my first true trail ride on Banner today! I got my son to ride my bombproof quarter horse Doolie out in front, and after a few minutes of stops and starts, we ventured off to hit the trails. Banner knows them well because I've been ponying him 3-4 times a week all through our local mountains since I got him last April, so it wasn't stressful or anything. Banner's still green as grass and had a few goofy moments, but all in all, he was just aces! We even passed a bunch of loud motorcycles getting to the trail head AND the stinky old bulldogs who attacked him a couple of weeks ago, and even then he didn't flip out too badly. I was SOOO proud of that boy!!! He's very level-headed, so I can tell he's going to be a safe horse anybody can ride one of these days. I was--and still am--so excited, I just had to share. ;D
