Thanks Kigerfan. Could not view the video. Will try again. I would not attempt the LaGarrocha with a green horse. Preparation for such a strenuous equine activity takes much mental and physical conditioning. It is basically incremental learning, over an extended period of time. The manipulation of different body parts of the horse is greatly involved during the process. This gives the horse a much better chance of staying mentally and physically sound throughout it's riding/performing career. We live in such a fast paced world. Most everything comes instant or condensed. Even in horse riding/training. Melissa

Melissa--
Where does one get involoved in La Garracha or Doma Vaquera?? Are there trainers near you? Internet searches seem to pull up very little in the way of education. How did you get involved?

Finally got a chance to watch the video. Dial up internet connection sure stinks! That is one extraordinary horse! He is definitely natural leaded, athletic, and has a brain! I bet he brought a nice high price. Nice overall performance. There were a few moments during the video that were quite tense. This must have been the freestyle class? Rider and horse displayed much versatility. Thanks for sharing. Melissa

Cindy, I've been studying videos. There are no trainers near me that I know of. Wish there were. I would love to study Doma Vaquera and eventually compete some day. I have no idea where the closest competitions would be located. I do a lot of freestyle riding, and am always searching for interesting riding disciplines to coordinate into my routines. Purchased one Doma Vaquera La Garrocha Exhibition video from www.skyhorsekingdom.com Melissa

Yes, the horse actually was purchased by the fellow that trained it, he couldn't let loose, this year however his horse that did the same routine did sell and sold for quite a high price. I spent the whole time at the EMM absolutely astounded and feeling woefully inadequate. I just can't believe the things these horses could do. One of the gals took the bridle completely off her horse and rode the horse at a walk trot and gallop through different movements around the ring, holding a wood bar in either arm and guiding the horses movements by the movements of the bars, never touching the horse or coming near it. She won the EMM with that performance. Yes, the demonstration with the pole you were asking about was freestyle. I wish I had a video of all ten performances of the top ten winners, these people floor me.

I'll say dial up connections stink!! I'm on dial up and feel cheated out of this entire thread. I haven't been able to view any of the videos!

Kim, Just let the video load and walk away from the computer for a few minutes. That's what I do. This is why I post short movies. They do not take near as long to upload and view. Dial up connection sure can test one's patience! Here's today's ride. Sombra's first public performance of the LaGarrocha will be at KHP July 17 thru 19th for the Kiger Mustang Breed Weekend. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeTUSvgnlfw
