Okay, I know I keep posting these little stories and I hope they are entertaining and not pesky, but they just tickle me to pieces, so I post them. By the way, I have my computer back up and running so I'll be able to get pictures and post them soon.
We have a shed style chicken coop with twelve spoiled rotten chickens in it. They free range during the day and go to bed in there, all locked up safe at night.
So yesterday, I went down to let the chickens out. The door to the chicken coop is somewhat narrow and above it is chicken wire. The thing is roughly built and because it's a shed, it is somewhat dark inside (though not completely because there is space all the way around about a foot from the top of the walls that is chicken wired in. At any rate, it should look like a horse eating monster. I opened the door and let all the chickens out, then went in to check their nesting boxes, fill their food and check their water. Firefly, without hesitation, just starts walking right into the shed, even though she's rubbing on both sides as she comes through, like she does it every day! I shooed her back out because it's a small space and filled with tripping hazards. But she just showed absolutely no fear! Walked in like it was her stall or something.

I LOVE your stories.....The natural curiosity Firefly displays is what makes me love my Kiger colt Cordero so much...He's just like Firefly....Nosy, curious, and no fear....Gotta love it! Such great minds!

My mustang used to steal chicken eggs right out of the nesting boxes and eat them! The chicken shed was also very small and she would be standing more than half way in on the floor that was a good step up...if i ever could not see where she was i always checked the coop to see if she was there...most of the time she was! i wish i had a photo of that.

Another little story. We built a stall for Firefly up about five foot from the sliding glass door under a great big shady tree. My hubby has his drum set about seven or so feet from the sliding glass door. When he started playing his drums, I looked out at Firefly and she was calmly munching on her alfalfa and had her head turned towards the door with her ears pricked. Seems she likes the drums

That was pretty much it Dianne She's gotten where she likes following me where I go. She was even standing about fifteen feet away, completely free, watching a chain saw being used. She would snort and huff and prance away, then come back and stand there again watching. She would look between it, and me and back again. She has frightened herself a few times, but has basically shied in place. She's a pretty interesting girl to say the least

The gal who has Sassy lives in a rural area and they had a big fire in the hills. The helicopter was flying low overhead repeatedly to pick up water from the nearby lake in its bucket. So her owner went out and stood with Sassy and watched the helicopter flying overhead calmly, with slow even breaths saying "wow, look at that, isn't that something?" Sassy did just what you described Firefly doing with the chain saw. Then after a few passes she ignored it. To have a horse trust you like that is wonderful and amazing.

The one thing that Firefly does that I really know signifies a lot of trust, but still keeps me on my toes is, she lays down right next to me, in her stall or out in the open, and just starts rolling. One time, I was in her stall with her and I was talking to someone outside the stall. I hear this FWUMP! behind me and turned around to see Firefly's feet straight up in the air with her back not a foot from my feet. I wiggled out of the way pretty quick and she just finished her rolling, got up and walked over to me and shook off right next to me. That night, I washed my hair and you just can't believe the amount of dirt that came out of it!
