Thanks for asking! We are at 6 weeks now, and Isabel seems to be doing fine. We had her in a 9x9 foot stall for the first 5 weeks, and got permission this week to open it out to 12x12, so she has a little more room to move around. It is still a bit of work for her to get to her feet., but last night and today she was able to get to her feet on the first try. It had been taking two or three tries, scrambling wildly. The vet also gave us permission to take her out on a lead to graze, right outside her stall. Not really going for a walk, but a nice break for her to get out and have a nibble. She is shedding and itchy, and very appreciative when we groom her. Here is a pic of her yesterday, helping my daughter with her history home work

Yes, thanks for the update I love the picture and am so glad to hear that she is progressing along very well. I see you have a lick-it toy for her ;D When Cleo was confined she would eat one in just a few hours, she figured out how to get it still and use her front teeth on it.

well so far, the only one who has licked it is the daughter! The cute guy at the feed store told her they taste good, so she tried it (Before we hung it for the horse!) Isabel mostly likes to play with things I accidentally leave where she can reach them, like a longe whip, brush, bare back pad, etc. Lil

Maybe horses are somewhat like cats, they like to choose what their toys will be, rather than being given a store bought toy

Isabel is now at the three month mark, and got to "graduate" to a small corral! It is a 24 x 24 foot area, we built before we first brough a wild one home. She has a little shelter, and can move around a lot more. Aso, the other horses can come up to the fence and be friendly, which she hasn't been able to enjoy for a long time. She still limps, though will bear full weight on that side. For instance, I can pick out both hind hooves, and she will stand fully on the bad leg to stretch the good one. She figured out how to get up without using the bad leg too much, but still acts like it smarts when she does. I need to have the vet out this week for a check-up, and ask more questions. Hopefully I can start taking her for walks :-) That fact that she is still limping though makes me wonder about her long term healing. I keep trying to compare it to my broken knee; 13 weeks on crutches, and a LONG time learning to walk normally again, and recover from muscle atrophy. But for now, I am very pleased with her progress! Lil

She's definitely looking good, recovery takes a while sometimes but I'm sure she'll be just fine.
