Lisa, sort of the same story as me! I was originally told that there would be a set number of Kigers set aside for the internet. That ended up not happening. I was told by someone at the BLM that they didn't bring in as many horses as they had originally planned, so all were offered at the Nov adoption.
Now, a Kiger has been on my list of dream horses for years. I got outbid on the last Kiger internet adoption 4 years ago, so I was waiting for this one. I want a wild caught, branded Kiger, so my only option was to wait till this year. I live in NC, so driving to Oregon wasn't really an option for me. Most of the fun of having a Mustang is the gentling and bonding process, and I'm proud to show off that brand. So I was very upset when they told me none would be held back. Tara at BLM sent me a catalog anyway, I figured it wouldn't hurt to look.
I fell in love with one specific colt, but figured he'd surely be adopted. Sure enough, he was adopted. So oh well, I figured I'd have to wait another 4-5 years. Then I got an email from BLM saying all the unadopted ones would be on the internet, and his number (8207) was there! He was returned because he had a small hernia.
So, now I believe it's fate. My favorite colt ended up on the internet, and I won him! Now the hard part.... thinking up a name! That and waiting until March 28th to get him!
So which colt did you get? And when do you get him? And have you thought of any names?
