Hi waterbearer, There is a poster by the same name on FHoTD. Are you one and the same? Welcome to the forum. Linda F Hi Linda, Thank you. Yes, I'm the same person who posts on FHOTD as water_bearer with a picture of my mutt as my avatar. Alyssa BTW - who do you post as on FHOTD if you don't mind my asking, or don't you?

Hi Alyssa,
I rarely post on FHoTD, but it's under "Carole" when I do. Mostly I read and learn, chuckle, or get mad at the a**hats. I support horse and dog rescues. I live in TX and have a wonderful 3-yr old Kiger mare (ranch bred).
This forum has many VERY experienced Kiger people. It's an excellent resource.
Linda

Oh yikes! FHOTD posters... LOL... Nope, never posted on there but have read a couple of times. Hahaha. Well, I wouldn't consider myself a member of the Fugly Mafia as you have to be an experienced horse person for that, but stupid people doing stupid things with or to animals is something that I can have an opinion on and occasionally get riled up about. I don't always agree with every little thing she says, and I can't think of anyone who does for that matter. But, I'm certainly behind the general principle.

It's this: fuglyhorseoftheday.blogspot.com/Most of it I find a little "opinionated"... to put it nicely, lol. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's true. Kinda neat to go read sometimes.

MustangsInNC.. I happen to agree with your comment on that site. As far as the fugly horses go I just have a soft spot for some of them (of course the abused ones). They always seem to make up for their faults by being the best darn horses, at least that has been my experience with the fugly horses I have owned. The trick as a breeder is to make em' pretty with that wonderful disposition that often comes with the ugly horse. Yet, there is a place for the FHOTD site as some folks need a smack into reality, now and again.

I agree with Tiffany, FHOTD does have it's place to a degree, I'm just not someone who likes to point fingers because there are four more pointing back at me. She is very "opinionated" and I can appreciate that, I just don't believe in making fun of people like that though some of it is well deserved. I of course, do not want to stick up for the people who are abusive. I do like that she calls them out, especially that recent post about the thoroughbred mares.

I must add (after going over and reading a bit more of her posts) that I do appreciate her conformational eye. I do learn from that, especially when she points out the legs and their faults such as that "no-legged" quarter horse stallion for sale. I cannot believe such bulky horses don't have any bone... disgusting.

I have to say, I too have learned quite a bit from that site not just from her, but from some regulars on there who really seem to know what they're talking about, especially in regards to conformation. Thanks to Fugly, I'm obsessed with shoulders now. I had never heard of HYPP or Herda before finding that blog either. I agree that she can be harsh sometimes, but so can I. I don't mind it. When it comes to people doing stupid things that endanger ANY living creature that cannot fend for itself, I'm all for calling them out and I'm glad someone more talented than I has the chutzpah to do it. You do occasionally get a herd mentality in the comments section from some folks, but I think that's the case on any popular blog. I have to say that as far as Fugly is concerned (or Cathy as she's really called), she's remained pretty consistent on every one of her views, and explained her reasons well when she had too.

I agree Tiffany my shooter is a fugly horse but his heart is so big and so giving, he loves us, he will remain with us as a pasture horse... as he is getting older we really can see the abuse done to his mind..he hates men with a certain pitch tone to their voice..except those in my family... I just learned of her site since I have been off line for a long time due to computer/internet problems..am going to read her site a bit everyday...
