I was reading somewhere else where silicone based products will dry out the mane and tail and make them brittle. What's out there that don't have silicone in it?

If your looking for good deals on Cowboy magic or Show Sheen I have found really good deals on there. Just dont outbid me!...HEHE. Also a couple more ideas for grooming That pumice stone is wonderful to help shed out the undercoat. Cornstarch for white areas (pat in in, brush the excess out) makes the white bright. Skin so soft makes best for fly spray and isnt so hard on the body and poors. Also dryer sheets tied in the mane are great for a fly repleent. When you wash their tail rub in some witch hazel at the end it gives an amazing shine and they wont rub or break off! In the final bucket of washing water add 100ml of cider vinegar to give your horse an amazing shine.

I have used suave for 2 years now and Stormy's mane and tail look so good, but also I feel it is her feed that is helping her and all my horse's.

I never brush the mane and tail on my horses unless they have had a bath and I have sprayed lazer sheen in it. then the brush or comb just falls right thru it. Someone mentioned too use listerine on the the head of my horses tail too keep her from rubbing it and so it'll grow back. It grows in the winter but as soon as summer hits, WHAM!!! in one day she has it bald. Has anyone tried this?

rowdy joe is like that and the vet told her owner she had sweet itch, and to keep it oiled with baby oil, and I remember she used benadine on her tail when she bathed her, now this year she is so much better,

Heidirenee - what site are you referring to where you found good deals??
Sonrisa - I use a combination of 50/50 listerine and baby oil on there mane and tail to help kill fungus, etc that other stuff like MTG wont kill... really helps a lot. But I have noticed that Lakota rubs her tail when she's in season - do other mares do that also? anything I can do to get her not to? It does reek havic on her tail...
