Our mare Whinny has an infection in her girl thingy. The baby was born 6 days ago and it looked like we got all of the placenta. Has anyone heard of this before?  We started her on antibiotics this a.m. |

They can also get an infection from bacteria getting in there during the birth. Especially if they lay down and get back up and the foal slips back in a little or some and the placenta is contaminated.
What antibiotic are you using? I belive only Gentamiacin treats those type of infections and if I remember correctly it is a five day treatment. Call your vet and see if you have not already! Good luck with it!
