Tino will only have two girlfriends next year and then be gelded. I only have a couple of mares that may compliment him and produce a more versatile build. His neck is a little low set for what I am looking for. I am just hoping for a nice purebred filly to hold back by him that may be breeding quality later on.

Ok so now you have my curiosity.....who are you breeding Tino to? And are you going to breed the girls to Charro this year, you know you want to! You know I want you to! (and so does everyone else)

I will breed Tino to Joy (if she settles down - she is not an easy breeder and I don't want to scare him!); then maybe Luna if I decide to breed her next year. If not, then it won't break my heart not to breed him at all. Honestly, the main reason I want to even breed him is because the traits that were passed through his maternal line were very strong through to the fillies, even down to grand - foals. I want to see what, if any, of those traits come down through the paternal line. Basically, I want to see what was learned behavior from the dam onto her fillies and what is genetic. It's not like Tino is low quality, so I'll get some nice sales horses or hopefully a nice filly to hold on to. But, he will make a better gelding for someone! The Kigers need good geldings out there!

kinda jealous of the mares , but sounds like to me they ended up in the perfect place for what they needed.

Thanks...I feel very blessed and undeserving of these mares, that is for sure! They are now out with the Wild Bunch...Doncella had a hard initiation but now is integrated well into the herd; hanging out with Sycha. I thought for sure she would stay with Cena, but she has not and Cena is kind of alone a lot of the time. I feel sad for her but I am hoping she finds someone to buddy up with. I may see who she kind of hangs with, then put them together for a couple weeks to bond then back out. Freedom! Doncella Cena

Beautiful! I know what you mean Michelle-I worry so much about Coors(15 kiger gelding) sometimes. He is alone a lot. But when I see him with a mare he doesn't seem all that happy. So I guess he's just a loner:-)

Doncella reminds me of Cedar everytime I see her.

Yes, I have the guys name and all his info. He's moved since then. I knew there used to be a breeder up there but don't know the extent of what he had going on.

Last week when I turned the broodmares back out on the hill after weaning the foals, I kept looking at a dun mare and thinking how Nesa was not looking right. Once I got a better look, I noticed it was 'Cena!! What a shocking difference in just six short months...she's a tank!
