Yep' Riddle looks good, I am so glad to hear he is working out for you guys so well. So Jim has got him working out already, that must mean the weather has cleared up some and it has dried up a bit for you guys. That is good news. So how is Riddle under saddle so far ?

Jim put the saddle on him last Saturday and he was excellent, but he did not like the bit, so we will go to either a bozell,(however you spell it) or a bit less bridle, no we haven't rode him yet. his work out was in the pen, lunge line and stuff and he is so out of shape. It is drying up, but chance of rain today and tomorrow, see the green in the pictures those are the weeds popping up already.

He's such a pretty boy! I see you are riding him in a snaffle bit not a bosal or bitless like you thought you might do. He's not on a loose rein for these pictures but since he was ridden several hours did he get more at ease? What conditioning program did you do to prepare him for several hours of riding this early on? My pasture potatoe, not Kiger of course, would have dropped over with several hours of riding this time of year.

I still prefer the bit less, but you have to use what you have. We worked him for several weeks before the ride, he wasn't sweaty when we took off the saddle. just barely where the cinch was, he did settle down a bit, but he was feeling frisky through most of it, but he seems to know when saddled he needs to have a different mind set then when we are walking him on a lead rope and I am the one walking him. Calmer with me then in the saddle, but for the first ride he was very calm considering. For the past 2 months we have been feeding him hay, and strategy, and working him in his pen, he is in a 40 x 40. He was ready for this day.

He looks wonderful Nola. Looks pretty relaxed in the photo's. I wish i had maverick at your place, looks like there's lots of machinery there, which is something he's not too used to yet.. great de-spookin.

we do need to do some de-spookin of him in allot of different areas. He bolted on me and gave me a rope burn cause he got spooked. We had to chase him down, thank goodness he didn't head out to the desert. But he is such a good boy other then having the spookies.
