Good observation H! Here is Nitro, born to Chilli (liver chestnut, half Andalusian/old Egyptian Arabian) and Lusiadas (sooty buckskin Lusitano www.baroquefarmsusa.com/lusiadas.html ). All three breeds known to have striping on them as foals). Here he is just born. Clear dorsal into the tail with what looks like dun frosting. The neck shading can either be dun or sooty. From the rest of his looks, he appears he is going to be a sooty buckskin. He had no leg barring. He turned out to be a buttermilk buckskin - super light with a lot of frosting in his mane and tail. Would have never called that one! I thought for sure he would be a sooty buckskin with a lot of countershading.

I remember seeing him born and thinking he would grow up to be a very dark colored dunskin LOL. Guess it shows you that we still have a lot to learn about horse coloration.

Wow! It looks like he has some darker shading on the top of his head as well. Almost like a "war bonnet" minus the white color pattern. lol
How interesting that he lost his counter shading as he matured!

Due to the overwhelming requests to remove barbhorses, I have done so. This is not the first time (or second) over the years I have been asked but tried to give her a chance. I feel at this point she was keeping others from joining in and ruining good discussions. Not to mention the obvious vendetta against Kiger folks.

You did what was best for the group Michelle, thank you. Barbshorses inquires about Kigers had been asked and answered several times over, she should have left on her own long ago. She obviously had no intention of becoming a Kiger Mustang owner.
