Photos from today. Her fourth day of life Can't help it! More photos! First day of Catarina in the round pen. I am so THRILLED with her uphill canter! She went straight to using her butt when she started to run around! I got video of it (of course!) and will upload it when the dvd is filled. In the meantime, here are some still shots of her fourth day of life. Coming in for scratches! Not a lucky shot! Love how she uses her butt! I am so thrilled with the direction that she is maturing so far both physically and mentally. I wont know for some years if she will be the way I hope she will turn out, but so far so good!

Okay, sigh, I just know this is a newbie kind of question, but what do you mean by 'uphill canter'? In the first pic I notice that her bum looks higher than her withers but in pic number 3 her withers look slightly higher. Is it pic 3 that shows uphillness, and are horses supposed to look uphill when cantering or running?

I mean that when she is cantering along that instead of pulling herself along with her front end and letting her hind end drag along that she gets her back legs far underneath herself and pushes with her rear and elevates her front.
Catarina is in sand so that perspective on her hip isn't exactly accurate. When she is on harder surfaces she isn't downhill.

Thank you for the compliments guys! She is actually! She has a lot of little kids and adults that come visit her I am very happy with her. I really would love to rebreed Victoria, but due to my circumstances (lack of my own land) I can't afford to own a bunch of horses at the cost of city boarding prices. If someone wanted to commission the breeding for this year then I would take her up to Pueblo to be bred again.... that is of course if this stinking virus goes away. At this point, I don't feel it is safe to move her or Catarina anywhere.

Very graceful and correct little one. Mom is gorgeous too. Love the nice short hooves on the mom. Good job!
