Amigo is a coming 7 year old son of Steen's Vaquero out of Spirit of Steens, captive bred,SMKR registered. He's a true 16 hands,1200 lbs, bay. He's been under saddle 2 years, completed one ,30 mile endurance race,2 overnight group trail rides, camps, trailers.Ridden English in a snaffle, never shod, only trimmed.Professionaly started & trained in basic dressage, lovely round canter, elegant mover.Completed 2 Jonh Lyon's trainer clinics. This horse has unlimited potential and unfortuately I don't have the time or energy to keep him going as far as he can.He would make a excellent man's horse because of his size and attitude. He is a show stopper and could go english or western. He's also a natural jumper. He's brave & friendly, the first one at the gate to great you. He has not been advertized anywhere else.I would like to give Kiger lovers first chance to have him.On the open market I will be asking $5,000 for him but am looking for the best home so am willing to negotiate with "kiger people". Those of you who have followed his story on Kiger Board Training thread know this is not an easy thing for me as I love him dearly but I know out-there is someone who's a better match for him. He needs an experienced rider that really wants to ride...alot,and can give him a full-time job.My first love is endurance and I can't do him justice and still compete on my Arab.I'm old enough to face the truth & do what's best for both my horses & me.Photos on request. Can't post...

Jeanne, Has he actually been started over fences? You say he's a natural jumper..... I have someone up here looking for a pony club horse for a very talented 12 year old to grow into. Let me know! Kim

Hi Kim ,Amigo is not a horse I would sell to any child,no matter how talented. He's just too large and opinionated. He has been started over cavelletti poles and has jumped 3 foot wood plies in my yard for the fun of it.He's built very "uphill" with a powerful huge hip & deep hocks & naturally folds his knees very tight & even. If I had owned him 20 years ago he'd be perfect for me cause I do think he has potential for many disciplines but he has been a challenge.and I'm not able to meet it.He needs regular consistent work and I feel guilty that he doesn't get that from me.The most I ride him is once a week at a dressage lesson.Every now & then I get him out for a trail ride but since I work full time & compete 8 months of the year in endurance on my arab...there's just no time for Amigo or any second horse in my life. He is one of the most beautiful horses I've ever seen in my life & I could keep him as "eye candy" but he thrives on attention & he'd be an amazing ambassador for the breed if he could get out in the public . I'd be happy to see him with a new partner who could bring out his best.

pepper ...I know this is a very tuff decision that you made, as I know you are very proud of how far Amigo has come. He is a beautiful boy and half brother to both my daughters horse Cleo and my Wickee. I have no doubt you will settle for no less then the perfect match for him with his next owner. Awhile back you sent me photos to post but it has been so long and I am afraid I had deleted them from my photobucket account. I did a through search hoping I had them stored somewhere on my computer but alas I could not find them as I was hoping to be able to post them here for you. If you would like to send me more pictures snail mail, I would gladly post them for you.

Kim, I wish I lived closer!! I love Rocky to death, and could not imagine parting with him...but he sounds perfect for the 12 yo girl, and Amigo sounds perfect for me. Rocky is so gentle and sweet, but I am just too tall. I need a big horse that I can use for endurance and eventing. Ugh! I guess if I won the lotto and had more acreage it would solve my problem!

Hi Folks,Thought I would share my experiences with finding a new person for Amigo. First,I admit that while I LOVE to buy horses...I absolutely HATE selling them.I have quite a bit of experience with both but it doesn't get easier. I only advertised Amigo here and on one other site in northern California .I've had an amazing response, nearly 30 in just one month. Most of the people were not qualified ,in my mind, not experienced enough, generally, but one of the first people who contacted me has turned out to be wonderful. She owns 2 adopted mustangs that she trained & now shows in dressage(and wins her classes in open shows). She also trail rides & goes horse-camping.She even knows Amigo's "God-Mother" ( the woman who's responsible for me finding & buying him yrs ago)She came up a couple weeks ago & met him & watched my trainer ride him, then climbed on & rode him really well.He looked amazing (the trainer had groomed him beautifully) & even though he hadn't been ridden in 3 mos, he performed 2nd level movements & was just splendid...I would have bought him myself all over again ! She's coming back with her trainer in 2 weeks for a final meeting for all to decide if this is a match. She's in love with him but wants to make sure her trainer agrees that he can progress through upper level dressage. Her goal is FEI(international levels)It's exciting to think my baby is going big time but she's a really nice person as well as a talented rider so anything is possible.I know I'm just holding him back so this is a good thing. And I can't help but think he's gonna put Kigers in the spotlight & that's a really good thing for all of them.
