One of our mares finally had her baby. She was about a week over due. I'm at work and have not seen it. The mare is a Palomino Mustang and the Stud is my Kiger Stallion. My wife tells me that it looks like a baby deer. Has a star on its head and four white stockings. No idea where the white stockings would come from as the mares legs are dark. Will post pics soon hopefully.

Oh I can not wait to see four white socks ..I would think that would make the foal very striking looking. Someone has chrome in the genes;) Next to Appaloosa foals (always a surprise what pattern you get) I think what you get from a Mustang is always a wonderful surprise. Not knowing their bloodlines or background they do tend to surprise you with their foals.

Congrats Jason...Dia (can't remember what you call her) looks good and appears to be a good momma. Filly looks like her legs will shed out black. Been thinking about you and when you would have some babies on the ground. Can't wait for the next one!

She is turning out to be a real good momma. We have not caught them up yet. I think my wife was more or less guessing at it being a Filly. Personally, I hope its a Colt. I think the foal is going to turn out looking like her Sire. Sage is past due as well and that one should be a stout sonof*gun.

I believe a Columbian breeder told me that colts run behind the mommas - fillies in front. I've never really tested that theory out though! I do know my colts spend a lot more time behind momma than in front when standing around.

Sweet! Mama has a lovely face, soft eye. Foal looks great. I don't see white legs either, just foal colt. Congratulaions on a nice foal. Does the foal have a dorsal stripe?

No white legs just a foal coat, but what a darling foal. I really like that mare she is very pretty, I see she has what looks like a dorsal. I would imagine the foal does as well. Looking forward to your next foal.

It's official. My sweet wife had the mare and the baby caught up when I got home today. It is a BOY. He has the dorsal stripe, legs are going to shed out all black, and he's has some mean leg bars waiting to come out. I think he's gona have some great color when he gets shed. I am also pretty happy with how he is put together.
Thanks for all the nice comments so far.

I got the mare from Michelle a couple years ago. I think she should be close to five now and I believe she came out of Nevada. We just use her for a broodmare (and asthetics) and this is her first baby. So far this is my favorite baby. He is put together well in my opinion and he looks like he is going to have strong markings when he sheds. He is super curious, friendly and fearless. I sat in the pen, on the third day, and started talking to him. He immediately made a bee line for me to his mothers dismay lol. One thing I notice on him and i'm not sure what it means. His face is not flat. His forehead is crowned. Will he grow out of this or is it in his genes? If its in his genes what breed influence is that? We are only expecting one other baby this year. That baby will come from Sage and she can have it any time now. Here are some pics from yesterday:
