Fantasy is scheduled for a vet visit next Tues. It is not an emergency as she is not acting ill by any means but something is definately up. I have noticed slow leaking of blood when she was in heat and not thought much of it, over the winter. Now that we have had some unseasonably warm days I have started conditioning for the coming spring riding season and the morning after a work out I am seeing more blood and this time when she was not in heat. So the vet will doing an ultra sound and we shall go from there. I do hope it is nothing to serious. I need to have a healthy horse I have big plans for this year.

Hey Tiffany, Who is your vet? I love my vet, but a farm call is cost prohibitive as he is 30 miles away and my other first choice vet does mostly equine reproduction now. I like Dr. Schultz because he knows and likes mustangs and lreally istens to me when I describe something but I will come across a situation someday where I can't haul to Prineville. You can send private response if you like.

Good news...Fantasy's ultra sound showed nothing out of the ordinary. However she had some inflamation and real irration at the top and inner lining of her vulva. So we are assuming that is where the bleeding has been coming from. I am very pleased that her insides are in order. I will treat the external issue and we shall get back to getting ourselves in shape for the riding season ahead.

Yes..I was so very pleased with the news. I am glad I had her checked out, I feel better knowing that her insides look good. Luckly she won't have no problem with me treating her.

I am afraid that I spoke to soon I was so excited by the assumption that that external issue was my only problem. Then this morning after lifting her blanket there was much more blood. I believe the ultra sound aggrevated whatever and caused her to bleed more then the usual exercise session would. I took photos emailed them to my vet. We will procceed with antibiotics and more testing in a week. I need to get busy coming up with some money and doing a bit of research.

If you don't get some real specific answers very soon, you may want to take her to an University Vet facility. We are fortunate to have Michigan State University Veterinary College about an hours drive from here.
