The Kiger world has lost a dear friend and the man that had the vision to select and cull these magnificent horses long before the BLM would have allowed that to happen. Ron Harding is who we all owe a great debit to for the Kiger Breed we enjoy today. George

I am so sad! Ron Harding was so instrumental in the Kiger Mustang being preserved. I believe he was the one who made the selection of the horses that were turned back into the wild that made the Kiger such a beautiful, functional and good minded breed. We were camped up on the Kiger HMA on Oct 12th. Perhaps Ron passed by there too, and once again got to see the wild horses that owe him so much. Rest in peace Ron, I want to hear some more of your stories when we meet again. Here are some pictures taken on Oct 12th from the Kiger HMA the lone stallion the most amazing sunset, with color from horizon to horizon

He was. Ron and Bill Phillips were the two people responsible for the Kigers coming into existence as we now know them and insuring those genetics were preserved for the future. Beautiful pictures Diane. I'll be going to Ron's service in about an hour. I'll take everyones thought with me. I'm pretty sure Ron was on the Steens that day Diane checking on his Kigers.

I knew his health was failing him........So sorry to hear of his passing....I so enjoyed eating breakfast with him and Beth at the last Kiger adoption and his help in trying to decide what weanling I wanted to adopt......I could have sat and talked to him for hundreds of more hours about mustang management and Kiger origins......
Rest in peace Ron,
Angela
