After the Stinkingwater gather we went to the Kiger HMA. Here are a few shots of a stallion, mare and her two foals. We watched the stallion breed her about a month ago. She was with a grulla stallion last year and we made sure to get pics of her grulla colt. This is the stallion who almost seems friendly. He approached us again and not in an challenging way. We saw approx. 60 horses on the Kiger, less on the Riddle. There were hunters out and about so the horses were a little harder to find than on previous trips. We did hear that they plan to remove the mare with the star as she keeps throwing blaze faced babies, but the grulla colt does not seem to have white on his face. If his sire was one of the grulla stallions we see often only one of them has a small white spot on his face, ther other has a left hind white sock. We'll post some of the Stinkingwater gather footage soon in a separate post. What a strange thing to have a helicopter fly about 35 feet over our heads. As I have said before all the horses we see seem to be in good condition. Enjoy!!

Very nice! He is a beautiful boy! You need to start naming them Bobbe like Josh used to do. That way it's easier to keep track of who's who. Kevin and I always wonder what happened to Najavo Aliantros. He was Musteno's son and Lui was in his heard of about 23 horses! Lui on the left Big Al on the right. Big Al and the mares.

Lisa, what year is it in your pics? Do you know if Big Al is freeze-branded and about how old he would be? He looks familiar, but that is almost a silly thing to say when they are so similar. There are a number of mature dun stallions out there. Thanks.

It must have been 1998 because Lui was rounded up in 99' Lui was 9 at that time so he was probably around that age. Yes he's freeze branded, you can kind of see it in the picture.

Bobbe! We saw this same family right along the road, up a little where the road forks. There was a new mare and her dun colt too. Sad to say this mare and the yearling were kind of bitten up, but well healed. The mare was thin and it looked like she had just weaned the grulla colt as he was looking very sad and the yearling was trying to comfort him. Maybe some stallion tried to steal them or something. Dark dun stallion New mare her dun foal and the grulla colt Yearling colt comforting grulla brother thin mom

Hah! Bring lots of money and get in line! LOL Actually, I'm rather worried about him being weaned (didn't see him get to nurse at all and looking sad) so young and mom being so thin. Hope things go well for them this winter.

She looks good compared to Jingles, Dianne. But baby definitely looks thinner.
