Of course a "good Kiger man" or woman can say a Sulpher or any other breed is a great horse. A great horse is a great horse no matter the breed. Horse snobery is just silly and about on par with, "my dad could beat up your dad" nonsense of elementry school. Hope that you share this lovely Sulpher with us.

It's always easier to have someone else take on the expense of having a stallion. When I first started into kigers, it was strange for me to see every kiger breeder/ owner have a stallion for their mares. I came from a world of TBs where breeders would have their mares and send them out to be bred (We cannot use AI). It may have been "cheaper" for some folks to keep stallions at their place, but 99% of the time, their foals were also cheaper. So they saved money up front, but lost a lot of money in the long haul. It's always better to go with a stallion that is tried and true then to go with a stallion no one has even heard of (unless their new and you know what you are doing). But the majority of the time, it cheapened the value of the foal to have an unknown stallion that breeds ten or less mares a year. Kigers are a little bit different though, because there is not a "proven" name that immediately tacks on $5,000 regardless of what the horse looks like.
To me, a good horse is a good horse no matter what the breed. Its an added bonus if they can knock your socks off just from looking at them.
I do watch Truthsayer's Sun on facebook and it is so much fun to see his updates. Its really encouraging to see other kiger people getting their horses out there and really showing them off.

In my breeding days I was a big fan of hiring out. I greatly appreciate stallions owners so I didn't have to be one I too keep an eye on Truthsayer thru' facebook and he is a very nice Stallion out there representing. I do hope down the line we will get wind of how the mares do in Germany and their foals, as well.

Truthsayer is out of Kiger Sun (Chinook's sire) and a lovely mare of Dave Porters. Dave had Kiger Sun (from Kiger HMA) and sold him to Tim Delsman but still bred to him. I don't have the details on the dam, Kiger Truthsayer.

Oh wow! Quite a story! I am happy to read that she has come around, but how awful for her to have been bred at such a young age! Yes, Sulphur's are certainly known for their intense dun factor. Check out this Sulphur stud in Southern California: www.youtube.com/watch?v=taeD5ufeSIUThis Sulphur stud looks like someone dumped a bucket of bleach in his mane and tail! www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9M3Q_5hMHUI hope you post pictures of your girl! My purebred Sulphur mare is bred to Mestene's Pueblo (Sulphur's Chance x Mestene (The Blue Stallion x Sulphur's Molly) for a 2011 foal. This will be her FIRST purebred foal. Seems like everyone has used her before I got her and when I leased her out to improve the Spanish Mustang. She has had three foals by Spanish Mustangs. grrrrr So I am very excited that she will FINALLY contribute to her own breed! I am hoping for a zebra dun. She has produced 4 grullas so far. Victoria is homozygous for black and I suspect also homozygous for the dun gene. Don't get me wrong, I love grulla! just hoping for a little variety from Victoria. lol Can't wait to see pics of your filly! Do you plan on selling her?

Very cool! It is hard to get Sulphur people to ban together. I am hoping to gather a bunch of like minded folks in order to promote the Spanish type Sulphur. Would you mind at all if you sent her my contact information? Would be awesome to have another Sulphur lover keep in contact with other Sulphur folks!

Does anyone know of any pictures of Kiger Sun on the internet? I've heard of him several times and I haven't ever seen him. I have enjoyed viewing the videos of Truthsayer on facebook. He's a nice stallion. It's wonderful that he is being shown so much. I agree with you, Linda, there is greatness in horses of every breed and this Sulphur mare sounds like a horse of "greatness". Thanks for sharing her story with us, Bill.

Kiger Sun was gathered from the Kiger HMA and is now a gelding being used in mounted shooting back in Arkansas or somewhere around there. Tim sent me these several years ago as Rio (his call name) is Chinook's sire.

Thanks for the info and pictures of Kiger Sun, Diane. He's a handsome boy. That second picture is really beautiful. I wonder if that was taken at an HMA?

Tim lives in Baker City and likes to ride the hills near there. He didn't say, but I'm thinking that where this was. I just realized that its water and not sky at the top of the picture, so maybe not.

Just a quick note to say the three (3) Kiger mares arrived in Strade, Gemmany in mid-August and settled in quickly. Everyone that I heard from that was involved in delivering them said they were amazed at how quickly the mares adjusted to everything, and their new owner is enjoying them immensly. Here is a link to their new website. www.real-kiger-mustang-ranch.de/4.htmlWe are looking forward to the arrival of their 2011 foals by Truthsayers Sun. Bill
