She would indeed! I bred Cali and sold her to Joan. She is out of Kiger Dundee and Calista. If you are loving a Kiger with personality and spunk she's the one. Since she is a light red dun she could easily throw light grulla. Joan, tell us again about that back country ride with the dangerous slope, I've forgotten all the details. If I wasn't downsizing I'd snatch her up in a heartbeat.

Thanks Dianne! Yes, I think she would definitely throw those light grullas with her apricot coloring. She has such pretty movement too! I would have loved to bred her again but I think my husband would have my hide! ;D One of Cali's first trail rides was out on a mountain trail going in to a lake to fish. We had hikers mostly and also a friend was riding her Arab mare. We came upon a trail that was much too steep for us to ride down though that is the way the hikers went. We decided to go around and follow a deer path that was in a lesser area however, we took a wrong turn and ended up going up a very steep part with lots of duff aka pine needles and slippery soils. We made it up to a ledge and my friend on her Arab went darting off through the trees... The Arab's way to get through something was to charge through it which would have terrified me. I was so thankful that Cali wasn't herd bound as it would have been a very dangerous situation. After the mare charged off out of site, I got Cali to come down off the ledge though she had to hop off and down about 1.5 feet onto the slippery duff then slide on her hocks down to the lower trail. Cali was very slow and consciencious throughout the whole process and got me safely down the trail, through the over-grown trees and to the lake where we met up with the fishing hikers. Needless to say, I was very proud of her on that ride!

Hi Joan, call I tell now?? Beautiful Cali is coming to Flagstaff to live with our family and her big brother, Dundee's Kiger KanDo, my "Padre". She will be my husband Mike's very special friend the rest of her life and she couldn't have a more wonderful, kind and appreciative owner than he will be. And she will have lots of mountain trail riding too! We are just ecstatic and can't wait for her to get here!

Yep, couldn't be happier that Lee and Mike ended up with Cali. I know she will be loved and well cared for... We miss her but know she's in excellent hands. I'm looking VERY forward to seeing some portraits of Cali done by Lee. I know she'll capture her beauty.

Thank you for all the good words, we were thrilled to get Cali, and now that we know her, , we are just completely dazzled by this mare's fine mind and loving personality. She comes to the fence waiting for her morning hello from Mike, and nickers for attention, even when no hay is pending She is a sweetheart. And wow, to see her in person -- I could tell how pretty she was from photos - but, it can't compare to how speechless we were when we actually got her here. Joan, I have never seen another Kiger with stripes running down towards their nose, and I love the way the pale red dun shades out into a silvery peach, on her legs above the hock. Just makes my artist heart sing, can't wait to paint her, I even dreamt about it. I though Padre would bond with her, since they resemble each other, maybe it would strike a familiar cord. But.... no. However, the lead mare in the herd, Dulcie, a Nevada mustang, has taken to her, and they groom each other. We are content and so seems Cali. Waiting for Mike's saddle to get here so we can hit the trail. His arab saddle was entirely wrong for her. I will post pix when I learn how, I am so stupid about such things.
