A very handsome young fellow! Just maybe, I guessed the color right, as well... I don't have much (any) experience judging between grullo and dun in foals, but he certainly has mascara!

No Mari foal yet...poor little mare! She is so huge and her udders are super full. I am not too concerned though as she is not dripping milk. Dr. Mary comes friday, so some nice bodywork may relax her enough to drop that baby!
Vegas is doing great - all boy that one! He's going to need another high energy colt to keep him occupied for sure!

You know we need more pictures Michelle! Daily would be fine LOL I'm so excited for you! Don't you know that you will probably get a colt out of Joy as well, Murphy's Law requires it.

Michelle, what time was Vegas born? I may be two for two if Mari has a dun filly TODAY!

Vegas was born at 1:30am...I really hope Mari drops that foal today and I surely hope for a filly. Gosh, when have you ever heard me actually WANT another girl around here!!!
Sure, Joy will have a colt too!! Better be a scrapper to put up with the first one! He does not do much standing around...
Any guesses on if he will be a light grullo or not? I was kind of hoping for another deep color like Charro; but does not matter really. His full sister from last year, Vida, had a dark foal coat and her nose was almost black right away.

From flipping around looking at pictures, I'm guessing grullo. Question - do you have your mares on that Marestare thing? After it got mentioned, I went to have a look. Found a mare that I wanted to watch... caught her right as she started foaling last night, and they shut the camera off until she was done. I was disappointed. However, I thought it would be fantastic fun to watch your mares, if you have that.

I agree, he will be grullo, just will be interesting to see what shade. No, don't do Marestare - have thought about it ...maybe next year; I'll be breeding seven mares so the extra eyes will be helpful! In order to do that, I've got to hook up internet at the barn, put a computer in (meaning buy another one...) and have another thing to keep updated besides this board, the blog, FB pages and all the other boards I keep up with! Kind of crazy!

I'm going to throw a wild guess out and say maybe a nice medium sparrow-gray grullo, rather than particularly dark or silver. But that's pure guesswork.
And having little to no knowledge of Spanish, out of pure curiosity after typing sparrow-gray I looked up the translation of 'sparrow'. I also got sparrow-hawk from the search, and now must someday name something either Gorrión or Gavilán, simply because they sound so nice.
