no good news and not much improvement to report. Today was the last administration of her antibiotics. The wind was awful today and had her running amok and bleeding again. I have her in the barn now and will monitor the amount of food and water she drinks. I will be calling the vet again this week as well.

Tiffany:
Wow, sorry to hear that.......Please keep us updated...Fantasy is in my prayers...
Angela
PS: And please, if the opinion you get from one vet group doesn't feel quite right, get another one...Trust your instincts........

Ah, sorry Tiffany. Having your horse sick just sucks. I'll be praying for you two as well. Never heard of such a thing. Hope the vet has a good diagnosis for her and gets to the bottom of it.

There is good news to report even after yesterdays run about the pasture, a peek under Fantasy's tail this morning revealed nothing. Just a clean bum'. I will still have more tests done as soon as she comes in heat. The vet told me not to worry to much...LOL (yeah right) Still going ahead with our original plan after our last phone conversation. Which was to do a culture when she was in heat and go from there. As there is no sign of infection illness, pus and whatnot, he doesn't want to open the cervix and risk introducing one if there is not one. So we will wait until the cervix is open to culture her. *I did want to note that the vet did use a speculum and check the girl thingyl wall for a ruptured blood vessel, but nothing was visable to the naked eye anyway.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all continues well. I've had a couple of blood related scares with horses in the past that turned out to be nothing more than ruptured vessels enhanced by extreme cold which makes blood flow appear more than it really is. Hope Fantasy's problem turns out to be nothing more.

Here we are at the begining of March and Fantasy is finally coming into heat. I took her out today on the trail ponied her on a real workout trail ride. I will work her again tomorrow as if we were going back to getting ready for the riding season. So now I wait to see if the bleeding returns. If not great...I guess it was a fluke that healed over time and rest. If it does indeed return, I will have the vet out to do the culture and discuss solutions.

Two days of working out and no return of the bloody discharge, so far so good and I could not be happier. ;D
